China takes a 7-day-long vacation to allow families to reunite and celebrate the New Year during the Chinese New Year. HM Group, on the other hand, took a 10 day holiday as a way to thank its employees for their continued dedication to the security roll pallet, post pallet, collapsible mesh pallets, and galvanized metal pallet industry and the profits they have generated for the company in 2023. Chinese New Year is all about family and celebration. On New Year's Eve, families gather for a reunion dinner, which is a symbol of unity and harmony within the family. This festive feast serves as an opportunity for family members to express gratitude and appreciation towards one another. It is a time for storytelling, sharing old memories, and creating new memories.
During the day, children play with fireworks while their parents are busy preparing the New Year's Eve feast. The food is typically prepared a few days in advance, but the final cooking is done on the day itself. In the northern part of China, dumplings are a must-have on Spring Festival, and they are usually made on New Year's Eve. The sound of chopping and sizzling fills the air as every home prepares for the big night.
Other common traditions include decorating the home with red paper cutouts, or "Chunlian," which are Chinese couplets with auspicious phrases that express good wishes for the New Year. The word "Fu" is written on red paper and hung upside down on doors, symbolizing blessings arriving. Another popular custom is to hang New Year paintings, which portray images of good fortune, wealth, and happiness.
The most exciting part of Chinese New Year is undoubtedly the fireworks. The noise and colors of the fireworks fill the sky, chasing away evil spirits and bringing good luck and prosperity. The louder and bigger the fireworks, the luckier the New Year is believed to be.
